Go Up Go Down

This is a little strange......

I found a glass bottle (1 liter size I believe) on a farm under a pile of brush. The bottle is old but not very old. The odd thing is when I filled it up with water to get the moist dirt that was inside of it out, maybe half a pints worth of dirt, a whole bunch of little bones came pouring out.

The only thing I'm sure they could be and from the appearance of the skull it looks like a little snake or snakes. Where I am there are only gardener snakes and that would make sense with the small opening of the bottle.

Does anyone know if tossed bottles outside are common homes for snakes or perhaps this fella got himself into a tight spot to which there was no escape?

I will take some pics of the bottle and skull sometime in the next day or two.

farmdigger, sometimes we find odd things-makes hobby kinda neat and interesting as we go along our way-you know. Maybe little critter got in the bottle and couldn't get out or someone put it there???  Farmsteads are interesting and sometimes profitable to search---treasuremomo

Hm, that is quite peculiar.  Maybe it was some kind of joke, trick, or maybe someone thought he/she was a witch or something.  I don't know, that is just my imagination soaring.

Your suggestions are as good as mine.

goldigger, you may want to try just placing thin plastic bag over each ear cup of headphones-just tape it in place above the ear cuffs. It could be very hot in warm weather, but it definitely would stop the ol' ear wax or moisture problems--treasuremomo Great

I had a similar experience. I went to a thrift store to buy cobalt bottles. They had one that was a decorative piece and not really worth anything. I just liked the glow from the cobalt. So I took it home and because there appeared to be some crap down at the bottom of this 2 foot tall jar I decided to wash it out. I poured some water and detergent into the bottle and started to shake it around. As I began to pour it out, I could have sworn a tooth fell into the sink. So I poured out the rest of the junk into a big bowl, and there was gramma's ashes! Someone had put some relative's ashes into the thing and then down the road some time the bottle was donated, gramma's ashes and all. Little pieces of bone and teeth were still in the ashes, and now I had just poured somebodies relative out in a bowl. I figured it was more of a hassle than I wanted to get into, so I took the ashes out into my yard, said a few kind words, and now that person is part of my back yard.

Wow, now that is something else. I suppose you did the right thing, not much else you could have done. If I ever come across old bottles in thrift stores I'm gonna look inside them and think of this story, thanks alot... lol!  Smiley

Kids sometimes catch snakes, lizards, bees in glass jars or containers and kinda forget to let them go sometimes .  :Smiley  If you find big human bones then you may have a slight problem and have to call your local CSI unit !!
