Accutrans
I have used it for all kinds of things. I first got it for working with landscapes to find artificiality, straight lines are signs of human activity. Start with an aerial infrared photo of the site of interest. Reduce to fewer colors. Extrude shapes. The human eye is very good at picking out shapes, foundations, paths, dig holes and disturbed earth etc.. Infrared is used because of the slow heat dispersion between compacted and un-compacted earth, and of course laid/stacked rocks. The patterns can stand out even through vegetation.
My most bizarre use is to look for speech patterns by changing letters/symbols to colors and then making a 3d landscape from it. Used in cypher work decoding.
The xyz files made by data loggers for geo-exploration can also be loaded into the software for viewing.
Pretty neat software, very reasonably priced, free to try.
