   Wise

Well I love to search old places.  A while back I went to a deserted institution from the 1900's.  We spent several hours.  We went separate ways.  He was using an older Whites detector.  I used my Bounty Hunter.  I found old buried tools and bric-a-brac.  He found several silver coins.

When he showed me how his detector worked I was amazed.  He had me secretly put different coins in my closed hand and he air searched and he told me what coins I was holding.  Even how many of each.  Does anyone know of a reasonable detector that can do this?  Thanks. Jim

Welcome to THunting, Jim.   You didn't say how long your buddy had been using his detector.  Lots of detectorists get so attuned to their machines from hours and hours and hours of practice that they can do that.   Yes, you'll probably want to upgrade from your Bounty Hunter, but even when you do upgrade, don't expect to be able to repeat your friend's results until you've put some hours in with the new machine.

Switch over to tone discrimination and use your sensitive ears to do the job. You'll be surprised at how accurate they can be after you get used to your machine.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
