is there someting I can cover the search coil with like a spray silicone or something to protect the coil I read in another post on normal wear and tear and how some get cracked sp is there a way to add protection or will that affect the finds  or will it reduce finds thanks you guys r so helpfull

I brush on that Tool-Dip stuff. Comes in a tall can for dipping the handles of tools. Use a disposable brush and give it two coats. Works like a charm. Clean your coil first with soap and water. Then dry it with alcohol and a dry cloth. Let it set out in the sun or under a heat lamp for an hour or so and paint it with the rubber Tool-Dip.

I recommend that you use it first for your tools and then when it gets too shallow to coat them, use the remainder to coat your coils.
