Go Up Go Down

I hunted at a location today that has an old house in excess of 100 years old. The home owner pointed out a brick lying in the yard that he thought was a marker. We dug the brick out of the ground and found what appeared to be an old rotted railroad tie. The tie turned out to be cut into a square block and had a hole that had rotted through the center. I used a flashlight to look into the hole and discovered that the hole under the tie was even deeper. I dug out the tie and once again looked into the hole and estimated the hole to be 5.or 6 feet deep. An even stranger thing about this hole is that there were several toads at the bottom. The bottom of the hole appears curve so I don't know if I can actually see the bottom or if I can olny see into the hole until it curves out of sight. Any ideas or suggestions on what I have found ?

I'm no expert but possibly an old well that's been partially filled in or an old outhouse. There very well could be some hidden treasure down there. Dig!!!

It may very well be an old outhouse but if it is it would have been in the front yard of the house. If it was a well it was very narrow. If you were to open your hand and spread your fingers wide you would not be able to fit your hand in the hole

I have not been back to "the hole" yet the heat here has been in the 100 - 105 degree range daily ! This weekend it is only supposed to be 95 so I may go back and get some pictures to post on here. I have learned that the property owner's grand father hid cans full of money on the property during the depression. I am hoping I find a can with a few coins !I

Anything found around the hole?  It might be a good idea to search around in a circle around the hole.  Also, search in a wide line between the house and the hole -- there might have been a pathway there.
