I recently read an interesting article about finding meteorite treasure and where to look for it and it made a lot of since so I'll share it with you all. as old time farmers pulled rocks out of their fields they would throw them under the hedge row or into a pile to make a fence or stone something, any ways some or one of those stones may have been a meteorite Wink

now that you mention old stone walls, that would also be a good place to check for more traditional caches....especially the portions of the wall in view from the house, barn, or outhouse.

Go Up Go Down

I had recently been to an old farm house to get permission to hunt his fields and creeks he said sure but first I had to help him find some steel poles that where lost and scattered in tall grass and a plum thicket as we was crawling around in the thicket i came to the edge closest to the house and got three really good big hits by each other, he looks up and says "oh that's just where the old bee hives use too set i didn't want you too find that"    Shocked we found almost all his lost poles and ate a few plums and I detect his fields and creeks now. Do you suppose he dug up those three good hits that night???   under old bee hives maybe a good place too look for a cache or two Smiley

Onally, I couldn't help but laugh reading your post about the old beehive.

Go Up Go Down

A friend of mine from Minnesota told me this one. When he was a kid he would go to Grandmaws house. She cooked on a wood stove, and after every meal the kids would have to fill the wood box, they could not figure out why she was so presistant that they do this after every meal.   Angel  When she died they went into the house and were removing all of the stuff from the house, including all of the wood in the wood box.  They noticed a loose board in the bottom of the wood box. Lifting it up they found a large and old electric roster oven with the top on. When they lifted the top they found the pan stacked with $20.00 gold pieces, and between the stacks, $100.00 bills rolled up and stuffed down the openings. After counting they came up face value near $40,000.00 in coin and paper money. He never told me the collectors value.   Have you ever seen a Sand Dollar about and 1-1/2" gold plated? His wife took a couple of coins that were beyond bad, ie no date etc. and had them melted down and made into a pendent of a Sand Dollar. People would look at it and ask if it was one of the plated ones. Her answer was lift it.  Kiss She passed away last year and her husband still has the Sand Dollar.  Wise

I heard of a modern day drug dealer stuffing cash in lengths of 6in PCV capping the ends and burying   with a post hole digger.

I seen so many (4 or 5) pipes just like you described in the debris after IKE along 146 at Dickinson Bayou and just south of Hitchcock around the 146/45 intersection. I wanted so bad to get out an collect them, but all but one time I was being escorted in and out of the area. That one time I had another coworker in the truck with me and he was very uncomfortable with me stopping to pick them up. Some were 4" and some were 6" pipe ranging from 8" to 24" long with caps or screw caps on them. I just know I left allot of money to be loaded on the dump trucks and hauled to the dump.

Go Up Go Down

i heard of folks putting money usually paper or notes in envelopes taping to the bottoms or backs of dresser drawers . a friend of mine's neghbors kids found  a jar of buffalo nickles  in the over head floor joists by a support post  down in the basement of neighbors house  . most of the other stuff has been covered by other posts in here  when my neighbor passed they (HIS KIDS ) were gonna auction his stuff off  while going through items they found cash in books just between the pages like book marks  and a bunch of birthday cash still in the cards. this past weekend i went to a old farm house and was searchin around were the smoke house once stood  got some good signals and dug  i got exited when i saw a mason jar lid  but that was just it  just a lid   and then another and another   but i still got exited every time lol  ! one of these days theys gonna be a jar on the otherside i know it  i just hope its full of goodies besides vegtables or jelly.  like others have said its were you find it  .my grand mother sewed some silver in a pant leg of a old pair of jeans when my grand father was alive and buried it  some time in the late 30's early 40's  she had forgotten about it when my grand father passed  my uncles had moved out and she couldnt keep the farm going so she sold it to my grand fathers brother  he would not let her retrieve what she had buried  and had to take him to court to get it back she won and my mother and a deputy went with her and dug it up  and she divided most of it with her kids  i have my mothers share she gave it to me before she passed away its just a little bit i have three uncles and 4 aunts  so it didnt go far  and they are so worn you cant hardly make out dates  but i wouldn't take anything for them just because of the story and what she went through to get them back funny i never asked my mom were grandma had buried them i will have to ask my aunt i gess maybe mom told her   i am sure it was in a neat place  . thanks for sharing these interesting hiding places .these are good questions to ask the older generations that are still with us  the older generations are a treasure as well  i miss some of the old ones and wish i would have listened more to their stories growin up  and had better questions to ask them while they were with me  if you still have yours with you enjoy them  and appreciate them  they have been there and done that in more ways then we can imagine  and learn from my mistakes for once they are gone you may like me wish you had  good topic   josey

Go Up Go Down

I just read through these posts and cant help but remember my Grandmother hiding cash under the rug in the living room. I've also heard of good finds between the pages of old books.
Grey Rider also mentioned "jeans", sometimes the treasure is the article as well as what was hidden in it. Some of those "vintage" jeans are worth a big dollar now.
