Over the years, I've heard of some strange places folks have hidden caches:Septic tanks, outhouses, hollowed out poles or boards, gas tanks of vehicles, hollowed out wooden legs, hollowed out shoe or boot soles, enema water bottles, inside meat wrapping paper or tin foil in the fridgerator, tanks of commodes, pipes, hollowed out gun stocks,in containers dropped down wells,in fake graves, inside pianos, inside guitars and upright basses, toolboxes, oil cans and grease cans, inside walls, below stair steps and inside newl posts, animal pens, buckskin bags, canvas bags, cast iron pots and kettles, old crocks and churns, inside tires,etc... CAN YOU THINK OF ANY?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Don't forget clotheslines!! While the wife would be pinning up clothes to dry, she would stick a few silver dollars into the pipes, when no one was looking.  I know this, because a friend found one that way.  And without a detector!!

Go Up Go Down

My late husband was a bit of a hider, after he passed and I was going through his shop to donate his many tools, I found an old metal tin with paper glued all over it in the tool building under a floor board that was loose.  It rattled like coins were in it.  After opening the tin, there was a note.  These are the coins I collected while my dad was in WWII.  There are many old coins from Europe dating from the late 1800's to 1950.  Some very large pennies to very small coins I cannot read.  I still have them in the tin.  He must have hidden them when we built the building in 1995.  Why I do not know... I have taken them to coin dealers but was told they are not in good shape and not worth much... To me they are a treasure I will hold on to.  I often think he was hoping to bury them somewhere.

sharenH, that is a treasure to you and let no one tell you any different. Those coins, though maybe not valuable to the rest of the world, are a treasure to you because someone you loved treasured them dearly. Always treasure them...and the memory of your loved one who treasured them.
"TREASURE IS WHERE YOU FIND IT," said an old friend of ours, when he spoke of treasure hunting.

I heard of a modern day drug dealer stuffing cash in lengths of 6in PCV capping the ends and burying   with a post hole digger.
