Where did you find the Fire Piston! Looks like it would be a great thing to have in the backpac!

As a matter of interest, why bother? Matches are so much easier to find and to use.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Jeepers, Mike, that's a horrible thing to say about your wife.

If she reads this . . .

I'll just check the obituary column tomorrow to see how you are, mate.

GD, I make fire with Flint and Steel too!  Why? Because I know how and can.

Have you ever ran out of Matches?

Gone Camping and all your goodies Got Wet?  Lost?

It's just good stuff to know.

I know how to get water from a cactus too.   Why bother, just grab another bottle of water right?

I don't have a Fire Piston but thought it was cool info.

Now that I know about them, when I see the parts laying about I'm going to make one.  Why?  Because I can!!  LOL!

Besides, when you have some young kids out in the woods it's fun to show them.

Making fish hooks from a stick?

Boiling water in a paper bag?

Cooking your food in a hole in the ground?

Dang, GD!  Have you lived a Sheltered and Deprived life?

No one showed you the fun stuff in life?

What would you do if someone decided to push a button and it all turned off?

Just a though.

I got to go with Homie on this one the more we know the better chance of survival. I care a lighter, matches and flint plus I can start a fire with a bow and string or a magnifying glass but one more tool ain't going to hurt.

I agree!  At the end of the day we need to make it home!  What-ever it takes, little tools make it a whole lot easier!

Um, Homie, did you miss that bit where I made a joke? I've been a Daniel Boone type since I was 7 years old. Relax. You're getting too testy these days. Shell shock?

As a point in fact, I can survive with just what I carry in my pockets. You probably could too. This isn't a competition, mate. It's a forum for discussion. Sometimes it's actually fun.
