The photo below shows how cannon ammo was carried with the gun.

The Cannonball was straped to a wooden sabot with metal strips, a filled black powder bag was tied to the sabot.

Spare bags of powder and loose cannonballs were also carried in the casson

This is a 6 lbs "rig"

Thank you..I hate watching movies were they pour powder down the cannon barrel...it would not have gone off as after every time you fire the cannon you have to swab the inside of the barrel with a wet "sponge" to stop the next round from going off prematurley.
