Thanks BA, Seens like we have these nasty plants all over the world, I have never heard of sumac,
That plant in OZ if you put you hand under the leaf, the leaf will bow down to meet your hand and the berries if they fall on ya
can give you a heck of a throbing sensation for a long while after

Thanks for sharing your experience TriDitty. It is always good to share knowledge about the dangers we might encounter out in the field. I hope you heal up soon.
Karl & BA thanks for posting those photos. A picture is truly worth a thousand words.
Fifty years ago, when I was in the Boy Scouts, we were shown some Poison Ivy by our Scout Master while on a camping trip in Colorado. He recited a little verse to help us remember. "Leaves of three. leave it be!" Even with this knowledge I managed to get exposed on my left arm while mowing along my fence line last year. I went looking for what had nailed me, but didn't see anything. I called a lady friend who is a botanist to come and take a look. She told me "it's all that Poison Ivy". I said "what Poison Ivy"? When she pointed it out, I was blown away. The leaves were bigger than my size 10 hand! I didn't see it because I was looking for leaves an inch or two long. Some of the vines were bigger than my wrist. It took a chain saw to cut them down. According to her, the increase in atmospheric CO2 has accelerated the growth of these devil weeds.
I knew a guy some years ago that was burning off some of this on his property. He had inhaled some of the smoke and he died from that. These are dangerous plants and nothing to fool with.
Here is a great link if you want to learn more about how these plants cause a rash, treatment options, etc.

Ivy has little effect on me unless I handle it a lot.

Oak kicks my but something bad.

Never experienced Sumac.

Nettles Taste pretty good you just have to handle them the right way.

Over in the UK they had these Milk plants that would get covered with little white Caterpillars.  The Caterpillars would leave a Acid like burn on your skin if you let the get on you.

When I was Stationed in Illinois, this dumb azz neighbour decided he was going to burn a bunch of Ivy in his back yard and alley.

Little did he know that he sent a cloud of Mustard gas over to the neighbors across the way.

7 people ended up in the hospital and he came "" close to dieing with blisters in his lungs.
