A Paleobotonist by the name of Jack A. Wolfe who was associated with the US Geological Survey at Menlo Park in California discovered fossils on the earturn gulf of Alaska which are as follows.
Palm leaves, Burmese Lacquer trees and trees that produce Nutmeg and Macassar oil.
Other similiar fossils also were found.. It takes a tropical climate to grow these type of trees etc.. Must of been pretty warm there at some time in history. It's amazing that here we are today crying over one or two degree temperature shifts, ready to spend billions on global warming. What will happen is the people will be further impoverished
and controlled while a select few will become filthy rich. The love of money is the root of all evil......John in Va.

In the geologic scheme of things, mankind has existed in a period that can probably be considered "cooler" than the global norm.   Of course, the temperature we're used to and especially the one we remember growing up is ALWAYS going to be THE norm and THE optimal temperature.  But just because we believe it doesn't necessarily make it so (even if we shorten the time frame to only the time "humans" have walked the planet).
