My Ex wife was Irish.  Spent many a days in Killaloe Ireland Drinking Guinness and Fishing.   Catching Eels was a Mess.   Mother in Law would cut them up into six parts and each part would try to swim out of the Pan when being cooked.   Did you know that if you Freeze a Eal the Slime just washes off ?   Nasty little devils.   Must taste Good because people Pay $40.00 a LB for them.

In Australia I bought a book on Fish and it said "THERE WAS NO BOAT BIG ENOUGH FOR A FISHERMAN AND A PIKE EEL" and the biggest one on record was 27 feet,

I use to use 20lb line with 60 LB stainless steel Trace, and 3 ganged 6/0 stainless hooks,

The one Mom caught was 5ft long and it chased me up the beach and I had to run backwards and the record in that area was just over 5 foot.

Green Eals are only 2-4ft long but there Strong as Hell and The Slime is the worst.     There mouth is only 1/2 inch maybe.  But if you let them they can Bite most well.    Them suckers , I hated catching them.   Everyone but me likes catching them.   I was after the Pike.   Pike was Money.   A ten lb pike gave me three days room and Board.  Beer and more.

The eel is the Tasmanian Devil of the ocean. Mean SOB doesn't describe it well enough.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.
