Did my time in Lackland AFB, On Freedom Day they let us loose in down town All hell broke loose.

We had to ware Uniforms, Target we was, Waked we was.

One guy got a bottle up side the Head.

One guy got Stabbed.

One guy Ran to the closes thing he new from home the River.

That was me.

No Problems there.

Spent 1o:00 hours stashed in the buses, Caught the Bus Back to base and All was well.

No One ever had a Need or want to go Down Town Again in my Unite.

guys i have been to the alamo  it is built up quite a bit around it. neat place.  gonna take alot of $$ to dig around there just sayin.. check out the river walk and buck horn saloon . ole DAVEY probably stashed somthin though .

Nothing associated with David Crockett that I know of.....but every Texan (or at least central Texan) worth his salt knows about Jim Bowie's lost silver mines on the San Saba.

Lots of places I'd like to hunt in the San Antonio area if I ever get back home (unfortunately a lot of them are off limits, but fortunately some of them are probably still in private hands)

His brother, Rezin, was actually the first one to have and use a knife of that type (basically a modified butcher knife in the genuine models of the day).  By the time of the battle, it was already so popular that probably more than a few were already in use by Texians inside and outside the Alamo----so even if by some miracle you did happen to find one somewhere inside the area formerly occupied by the Mission San Antonio de Valero, you couldn't be certain it was his.

btw....anyone who visits the Alamo should also go next door to the Menger Hotel---home of the "first" brewery in Texas and the oldest hotel west of the Mississippi  in continuous operation.   This establishment played host to such notables as Robert E. Lee (who supposedly rode his horse into the lobby pre-Civil War), U.S. Grant, Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders (especially in the bar), O Henry, Blackjack Pershing, George Patton, etc, etc.    They even had special tunnels for the delivery of liquid refreshment.
