We have a long way to go before that happens, but as far as global warming goes- there are other undeveloped technologies yet to be discovered that will provide the solution.

Several years back, I purchased for my then still young #1 son, a K&S bike motor.
It was a gas powered by 1/4c fuel tank, and used the principle of friction.

He reached behind his seat, flipped a lever which released a spring, and it lowered the motor unit and it's ribbed metal roller against the top surface of his back tire.

I seem to recall it achieved 30mph on Kansas country-dirt roads.  One thing it wasn't was "quiet." LOL

Interesting thread.  Thanks to the one who shared the URL!

yea chick~i got one of those too!rear friction~top speed 40+ or -

272 mpg,suprisingly quiet 43cc mitsubishi.goes like a scared bear!

it's in chitchat somewhere,i think it's called beeper bike or something Grin

over 2k miles on it! best time so far was taking it from pittsburgh,pa.~to washington d.c. on this bike trail and back Grin
