I don't have any swimming areas open to detecting where I live, but when I go down to Idaho I have some haunts that are real popular with the swim crowd. Not so many coins as charms and jewelry.

Yeah, there are more jewelry in lakes and salt beaches, but you must go in the water. In my case, I chose not to go into Lake Michigan's waters so I stay in the sand.  Detecting

If you want to work dry I know crushed walnut shell works well cleaning old brass ammo. Usually someone has a tumbler or two and media at the gunshows.
