I was sent a dug up toy cannon from a guy in the UK..it's about 3 inches long and fired black powder.. I wonder how many childern were hurt firing these as many are found blown in half.
Has anyone on this forum ever found one?

that will stop the kids from playing with matches...lol...sorry Dean I couldn't resist...but it goes to show how times have changed...200 years ago what was considered a toy for a child, now no one would even consider letting their kids play with.

Hello Dean,

well as you have seen in the shop I have also found some cannon wheels made of tin. Those are however a bit too small for a canon whoch could actually have been fired.

However I remember that when I was a kid I had once inherited a toy canon made of iron and wood which could actually be fired! I really loved it eventhough I never had fired it. I wondered where it is now. I'm afraid it may have been lost at one time when moving.

JIm, is right that it has much changed what has once considered to be a toy. Nowadays a manfacturer would be most affraid of a law suit and well I think explosives are really to dangerous for small (and big Smiley) childs.
