Sometimes Chris,
Just have to be careful and ask lots of questions.
99% of the stuff I've had off ebay i've been more than happy with.
B.T.W. - Still got that broken detector? what is it? (if you still have it) ...... might make you an offer on it!

definitely can not write off all of e-bay because of a few bad sellers.   In most cases, the purchases I was disappointed in were my own fault for not reading  the description carefully.  (There were a couple of exceptions, but only a couple).

I don't know Chris. I have been buying and selling on ebay since the beginning and have had few problems. You have to remember that if you are buying junk its not going to work for long. I sold a good working BH detector last year to a guy who first claimed he never received it so I showed where he had signed for it. Then he claimed it did not work and filed a claimed with ebay and pay pal for a refund I refunded his money plus the cost to ship it back, I never got it. Six months later he list it for sale using my pictures and listing word for word I reported it and ebay closed his account and kick him off but I am still out 100 plus bucks and a detector. There are dishonest people everywhere both buying and selling BEWARE.
Like Paul said ask lots of questions and make sure the seller has a return policy lot of the don't.

I've been on eBay since its inception. I have >300+ feedbacks ... mostly buying.. Idiot Very few problems. Before  buying... Investigate, investigate, investigate. As a rule I will not buy if the feedback is below 99.6%. Check what they have been selling and previous buyer comments. Are they sticking you with extra shipping charges for their profit? Don't forget to ask questions. If they don't answer.... "fogeddaboutit".  I just bought a like-new Surfmaster PI Pro Plus at a good price.

Good luck

Jim

There are scammers everywhere in this world, including ebay. Its up to you to protect yourself. If knowledge is power than, you should educate yourself on the people who you deal with. If the seller is new or has very few transactions do not deal with them, if the seller has a lot of transactions with a lot of negative feedback, do not deal with them, if they have a lot of transactions and they have a lot of GOOD feedback, and very little negative feedback, you should take the risk and hope for the best. i think 9 times out of 10 you will get a good deal. I guess point of the story is if you deal with scammers, you're going to get scammed. Sad better luck next time.

I've been using ebay for years and I just got bit for the first time. I was buying a text book for my daughter and never received the item. The seller wouldn't respond to my messages so I went to the resolution center with my case. After about 13 days they refunded my money.
