Go Up Go Down

today i was digging an area where a small mining town that has disapeared from the map as well as the pages of local history.  i found what must have been where they dumped their garbage.  i haden't brought any of my tools and was just digging by hand sifting through the dirt for anything that i could find of historical value.  there was an old brown bottle that was broken in half so i grabbed it and began scooping dirt up in the large open end where the bottom was supposed to be and letting gravity pull it through the neck of the bottle, trapping the objects i was looking for in the neck and mouth of the bottle.

i used this method quite a bit and it proved pretty useful for quickly and effectively sifting through the dirt

Go Up Go Down

Nothing like a little on the spot improvisation.   (In my youth we had a couple of terms for it.  Unfortunately the terms are no longer considered politically correct even though they are complimentary.)
