Thank you for the compliment re: my avatar, Christian.  You prolly beeped the nugget around my yellow neck, yes?

It's a dandy!!!!  Grin

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I like what I see.  Hope to be able to contribute now and then.  I have some active above ground discarded precious metals scrappers from Germany as my kit buyers.

Had a niece that lived in East Germany before the wall fell.  She told me of a HUGE weekly flea type market place where electronic scrap was stacked in overflowing boxes just begging for buyers, over there on the West Side of the Wall.   Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Then she moved back to the states with my grand nieces and nephew. (Sigh)  Oh, well.

Thank goodness it is NOT just electronic gold, platinum, palladium, iridium, rhodium, tantalum, etc., that is tossed copiously & carelessly.  I just had no idea Berlin was such a repository for that volume of that type of scrap.  Did you know that?

Is it still true?

Does Germany have tough TH "surrender" regs for beeped treasure that like England has?

Sorry to be so full of questions you've probably answered a thousand times already, but I'm so curious about lands I've never visited, and at the tender age of  60, probably never will.  (sigh)

Thanks again.

Hello Megan,

German treasure trove laws greatl depend on the state you are in. But with the exception of one state by the name of Baden W?rtemberg, they are rather liberal. If you find treasure it usually will be yours and is also tax free. Sometimes however the state government may claim the right to buy it from you (if it is a cultural treasure) - and this raises the question of course as to wheter they will give you a fair offer  Sad Smiley

Regards,

Christian
