Just from a different perspective, I live in about as rural of an area as you can get.  We don't have garbage pickup, we drive 20 miles to the landfill to drop our garbage off.  Sure there are a few private entrepaneurs that you can pay to haul your garbage off for you.  Personally I have a 6'x8' garbage trailer that I keep within throwing distance from the back of my deck that I load down and take to the dump when it gets full.  

We don't have flouride in our water, we draw it out of wells on our property.  We send off samples of the water to the county extention agent along with a processing fee check if we get suspicious that there may be a problem.  We don't have sewers, we dig our own septic tanks and field lines.  We have five traffic lights in town, and they were all four way stops until a few years ago.  If the stop lights disappeared tomorrow, four way stops would still be acceptable.  We don't have a paid fire department, it's all volunteer.

We also have a Super WalMart, a Dollar Store, a Rite-Aid and enough other businesses around town to support the very minimal tax base, so there's no need to kill the residents on taxes... but they do any way.  I own 7 acres of mostly undeveloped land within the national forest that is payed for and I own it free and clear... except I have to give the government $2400.00 per year in property taxes.  If I can't afford to pay those taxes which include "services" that are not provided to me and school taxes for children I don't have, then they will sieze my property.  Tell me how that is beneficial to me.  Beyond that... tell me how it is even a level playing field.

Federal taxes are another thing.  We have to provide for the common defense and to protect every citizen's right to life, liberty and property... and I don't mind paying my fair share... but all the pork and special interest is just... well.. I'll stop before I get carried away.

I know homie there are a lot of jobs the gobermunt could cut , like the $50.000 a year they pay the dude to watch ketchup flow and rate it .
or the guy they pay $500,000 to fly up and down the US/ Canadian border, just to check and make sure it's still there , oh and get this he only does this once a quarter or 4 times a year.
these and many more were all documented wasted money jobs by 60mins a few yrs ago.
