Go Up Go Down

OK so it wasn't with my detector..however...I won't go into all the details as it is rather long however...

On Saturday I and 2 friends decieded to hit an old scrap yard/surplus place..it's a mess and very dangerous...the old guy that owns it has never flowed any laws about chemicals ect..so the yard is a real mess.
He has tons of stuff he has bought over the years in truck trailers and old buildings...all have the floor falling out as well as the roofs..there is "wildlife" every where there.

Anyway we were dumpster diving as one friend is a real Military radio buff and has several WW2 Airforce radio units he is trying to get up and running..he found lots of parts he needed.
As we were leaving we decieded to check out on last building that was full of scrap metal old light tubes and everything else you can think of..had to climd over tons of crap to move around!!

He Matt spotted a dove tailed box in the mess, so we dug it out..the box is in rough shape..but we could make out some of the lettering.
Turns out it was a Gyro Gun Sight in it's case that was used on Lancaster bombers in WW2..it had been brand new when when the guy bought it and put it in the building 60 years ago..the case had the spare parts tin in it..all the parts still wrapped in paper!!.
There is a little rust on that tin and on the sight itself, and the leather strap is broken..but how cares, it a Lanc bit!!!

So I bought it..got what I thought was a good price.
On Sat evening I did a search on this type of gunsight...only found one for sale in the UK...not the cased unit with the spares..just the sight in the same condition as mine...his price for this very rare gun sight???1300 pounds sterling!!!!!  ($2600 US)

So on Sunday my friends and I went back and bought the other 20!!

I won't say what I paid for them..however if I can sell one for $350 CDN then all 21 of them are paid for.

Also found a crate of WW2 issue headphones..used with the 19 radio set...and we all used that radio during WW2..we even sent them to the Russians..some were still wrapped in WW2 dated newspaper.

I paid more for the 46 headsets than the gunsights. LOL

He has several trailers we can't get into at this time..he mentioned there were Bren gun parts in one, and other Military equipment..so when I can build up some cash..my friends and  will be heading there again!!

Man I love stuff like that.

Go to this site and look at item GS 06   thats the sight we have..but as I said mine are all cased and have the spares tins
