Go Up Go Down

We're in the grip of nasty weather here in New England known as a nor'easter, a phenomenon where a southern weather system sweeps north and delivers a circular wind that goes counterclockwise. The wind coming from the east and the north, blows ferociously every few minutes, then calms. Snow is whipped into every nook and cranny of your house and may even find its way through the tiny cracks of a normally secure window. Drifts of snow in the corner of the window on the inside are dead giveaways that you are in the midst of one. My attic has a floor you can walk on and it has snow in the corners.

The freezing temperatures also mean it's a "stay inside" kind of day. I was scheduled to give a talk tonight in Norwichtown. About 25 miles south of my house. I have cancelled it for tonight and asked for it to be rescheduled at their convenience. Since I was only one driver with a 4 x 4, I wasn't worried for myself but the attendees might be taking risks. The talk can wait.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
