We just got hit by a coronal mass ejection that scorched us for two days. Turns out it was a non event except for some rather spectacular aurora displays. The sunspot cycle has been going on since the sun was first lit.

Are we supposed to be quaking in our boots or something, mate?

It's all about that magical moment of discovery when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Good!.    The MUF (maximum usable frequency) will go up and stay up longer!!! Now... whether the sun spot activity will be strong enough to cause problems with major power transmission lines has me worried a bit. I have seen sunspot related intereference on telephone citcuits so bad all you could hear was static.

Should make radio freqs a little more usable in the 30-50 mhz bands. other than that I see no cause for alarm.  :Smiley
