Hi,
Anyone see the Meteor Shower last night? (or maybe now depending where you are!)
We were really lucky here, had clear skies for a couple of hours.
Pretty spectacular it was, at one point 2 or 3 a minute were coming over.
One in particular was a "fireball" ...... wonder if that touched down somewhere?

I usually make an event out of Persieds... I go lay out in the grass and stare at the sky for hours looking at the streaks in the sky.  As luck would have it, we had a popcorn thunderstorm pass through early this evening that made laying in the grass extremely uncomfortable to say the least.  The clouds passed over and the sky was clear this morning, and I spent about an hour out on my back deck with my neck craned up looking for the streaks.  I only saw one, and it was in my peripheral vision.  By the time I turned my eyes toward it, it was gone.

The storm for us usually comes just before dawn, but I had to give up due to neck cramps about 4:30 my time, fifteen minutes ago.  Oh well, there's always next year.

I think it's around tonight as well.
I remember a few years back they said the best night to view it was on the Friday, went out for hours and only saw a few.
But the following night was the most spectacular I've ever seen!
There were so many and so bright they were actually "lighting up" the curtains in the house (we are out in the country so it gets real dark).

Today's Friday the 13th.  My luck I'll get smashed in the noggin with a meteor if I go out tonight Smiley

I'm glad you were able to see some of the shower. It seems like every year, here, we get clouds the nights that it happens. I really experienced the Perseids one year - perfect viewing from the beach in S Carolina - loved the every once in awhile WOW ones so much that dawn snuck up on me. Maybe I'll luck out tonight . . . We've had much needed rain here for the past three days. No meteor showers for me. Just rain showers! Hurray!

Hi to all,
The foot hills of central Calif. is a great place to live and watch the meteor showers. When the grand kids were young it was a yearly event.  I believe there is also a big one in December that is just as comparable to the Persieds.!!!!
It did not get good until 3:00 a.m.  Tonight ( 13th) should also be a grand event.
Just Don and i & the two dogs & the cats & the sheep .. We are all set up....!!!!! Kiss Wink  Wink
It is great entertainment..( better than the trash on tv.!!
                         Contrygal & tribe
