Pirates off the coast of Somalia last week tried to take a US cruise ship. But the attackers got more than they bargained for when the crew turned a newly developed sonic weapon on them that blasts earsplitting noise.

Nice article Thanks for posting it . Maybe pretty soon when things escalate a little , a disgruntled passenger will fire a missile at the pirates !! Then it will be smooth sailing for years !! :

Last time I looked it was still OK to protect yourself on the open seas. If I had a ocean going vessel that was approached by these gangsters there would be nothing left but a little oil slick were they used to be. Political correctness has mighty powers wringing their hands like old woman.

I guess I am awful, but those modern day Somalian pirates capturing Saudi oil transporters and other ships for ransom, using the same old ladder method of climbing aboard, kind of had my nod of approval. Their country is in bad shape, has no law & order, it was helping the locals. But, for awhile they were capturing several a week . . . wise, old time pirates would never have been so bold.

Sweet Sue; I have some of the same sentiments as you about the pirates. Much of the freedoms many now enjoy are the results of those first free-men. Also it must be pointed out that the nations the pirates were liberating the wealth from are the same countries who used slave labor to mine the Americas for four hundred years. If Nations lay claim to lost treasue they should have to give it to the people they stole it from by forced labor, those in the Americas.
