In a simpler age, the marine police over here would think nothing of putting a bullet into the head of a captured Tausug pirate, resulting in great savings of taxpayer's money, paperwork and court time. It was far better than they deserved in comparison to what those scum did to fishermen and recreational boaters. Then the UN protested and because of that, "civilized" treatment and "due process" of such felons had to be accorded.

We now have 7 Somalian pirates in custody and awaiting trial under Malaysian law. This burns me up. Hang them all I say. The only good pirate is a dead one.

Late last year, an old friend voiced out his worries to me; he's due to be discharged from an army and will be starting a shipping business which will unfortunately ply routes stalked by Somalian pirates. I suggested equipping his crew with grenades fused for air-burst (greater chance of a hit in comparison to putting a round into someone bobbing up and down in a small boat), and he was quite happy with that. I'm sure he'll easily make the transition from singing 'voila le boudin' to yelling 'voila la grenade'.

  I would ask why are they doing it risking their lives...
 obviously its for the money. So far 100 of millions have been paid out
 How about the UN and everyone else try to help with a stable government, police, navy, army
 then they can police themself and try to stop the pirates from their own shores.
 I dont think this problem will go away anytime soon  with all the money to be made from it
 at the country as it is at the moment.
