i shi* you not~this guy,(i can't remember where i read this) strapped a homemade beeper to the front of his jeep-used it in the deserts of california and found mega nugget(or as cristian spells it-nuget) . i can't remember how much it weighed-but it was like 130 lbs.he's dead and his daughter was trying to get rid of it.

i shouldn't drink late at nite. Grin

I remember reading about him.  Even caught a show on TV once about it.  Been a few years gone by now though.  That's all he would do though was drive around the deserts and wait for a signal and dig.   The find you are speaking of was a very sizeable one but I can't recall exactly either anymore as far as the weight goes.  It was definately a good story to read though.

I've never heard of anyone here in the US finding a 139 pound nugget. I do recall a story of a guy finding a nugget in the Mohave desert using a metal detector attached to  a jeep but I can't recall how much it weighed.

139 lbs is over 1600 troy oz -which is pretty much unheard of - even in Australia ( the land ofhuge nuggets) It's think it's probably 139 ounces and not pounds.. Grin
