On a farm near Del Rapids South Dakota a corn shucking contest was held. The year was 1938 and the winner was Ted Ballo having shucked 22.64 bushels of corn in 80 minutes. Now the interesting part of the story.......125,000 people were in attendance with parking available for 35,000 cars. There were parades, brass bands, food concessions and other things present. I'm on the east coast, to far to go to find this site. This is a great opportunity for someone close in the area to research this out and find the exact location. I can only imagine how many coins etc. are at this particular site if no one has hunted it. The original article appeared in Farm Show Magazine volume 32 no.6........They have a website. Go find it!
