On the American PBS at 10.00 PM they are showing "Greatest raids of WW2..The Cockleshell Raid"
One of the great raids thats almost unknown, there was a movie made in the early 50s, it's about several Royal Marine Commandos that got out of a Sub and using folding Kayaks, paddled a hundered miles up a French river and placed Limpid mines on several ships.
All but 2 were captured and shot by the Germans...I have a "canoe compass" in it's box from one of these Kayaks...well one that the RMC used, not on this raid..but a real one.
Waiting to watch this one.
