 Hello I need someone who has a web site to help me out with some real factual information, not just what they think. I am planing on a web site for buttons. I found a lot of button pictures i would like to use on this site that come from past sales on ebay or the web auction houses. Are these automatically copyright photo's, or can anyone just down load them and use them as they wish. Some of these photo's i found on the web go back 5 to 10 years. Is it legal i use them even though i didn't take the photo myself? I know google reports photo's published on the web when you do a search. thanks GW Hunter

RJ i may be wrong but im under the impression that the photos are the property of the person who took the photos and you need
to seek their permission before you reproduce their images, hence when you open a book that has used someone elses pictures
it will have a recognition either in the front or the rear of the book and just because the images are in a public area does not make
them public property

Well if you hang on fer a while GD or Christian or some of the more experianced guys should be able to advise you on the finer points
and they should be able to get you on the right track

RJ I hate to lead you wrong but this is what I know are the way I understand it anyway. If you post a picture on ebay they have all rights to it. I have seen them using my pictures of books on others peoples auctions.
There is several pricing sites out there that use info and pictures from ebay and other sites so it can be done. If it was me I would contact ebay and tell them your plan and let them help you though the red tape.
One of the sites that use ebay info is Worth.com I think if you can't find them let me know and I will find a link for you.
