Go Up Go Down

Hi y'all, I cant post a picture of it yet but awhile back I found a Morgan 1880 silver Dollar, it has a "S" on the back of it so I would presume it was from the San Francisco mint and it is in great condition, it is still shiney, I will try and post some pictures of is and it has never been cleaned, It just has light tarnishing and thats all,

So my question is are these coins worth much,

thanks,  AU

well it looks like its never been used apart from the slight brown tarnish on 2/3s of it, and every detail can be seen,

so I'll just wait till my brother gets back tomorrow and then sort out some pictures

Hey nice find you have there!  Grin

Ebay will probably be a good source of how much you might get for it. There's tons of them being sold constantly online. However, if it's a nice one - you may want to consider sending it in to be professionally graded. However, I'd suggest you chat with a local coin dealer in town first to get his opinion before spending the money. Those codes at the top is the grading scale often used by people to indicate the overall condition of the coin. G = Good, F = Fine, etc. The numbers are again a scale from 50 up to 70 indicating how good the coin is. 50 = poor/fair all the way up to 70 which is Brilliant Uncirculated (or what coin collectors call BU). You've probably seen them online on eBay encased in those plastic containers with the graded codes on them - so that's what they are. Sometimes there can be 10's if not hundreds of dollars difference between numbers for example 62 and a 63! I'm certainly no expert at all on these, but hopefully that will help a little bit.
