Hey Steve?..I filed a window in it. I went to this web site

Please Register or Login and the photos look like the one I have. I can find no web site that mentions what over minerals they contain.  They other day when dowsing with iron and nickel I had 6 signals. When I added a sample of Iridium I only had one signal left. That is how I found this rock. The little specks of silver looking material is in there. I am looking for ways to identify  them  before I dig?.My other samples are not pure but give me an idea of what other samples may work?..Art

Art- If you submit a sample to ASU - it might take six months before you can results back.

I would contact Robert Haag aka The Meteorite Man. Here's his website.

He will probably want you to send him a small sample for testing.

If it's a 22 lb meteorite- it will be worth considerably more then 1K.

When I post photo?s on the internet there is no way that I sell the object. Just in case Uncle Sam ever drops by. This is one of the limits of being a physical dowser. If I don?t have the right bait for my rods it does not work. I have a small sample of what is supposed to be a meteorite but it does not work. Thanks for the web site. I will try to check it when I get back from the Dentist?Art

is that just because meteorites are relatively rare? Or what about the pure-ish Ni-Fe-Au?

Hey Steve ..Thanks.....I got what I wanted? Now all I have to do is learn how to read a Periodical Elements Chart. I have already learned that what I was reading as Granite is wrong as it is composed by a lot of different elements. ?.Art

Both really. Early man used them for points and tool making. Most now I would guess are just collector items and scientific study.

The contend is iron, nickel, granite,  iridium, tantalum and titanium and  some silver.

How did you ascertain that it contained,"iron, nickel, iridium, tantalum and titanium and  some silver."? Did you do Chemical test? Spectrum analysis? What percentages of these metals did your test show? Undecided

Hi Art, cangrats on the rock. Sounds like you got all the home test done and ready to get a nickle test done proper.

One explanation for the sparkles in the rock, cold be mica crystals. Mica is found in Granite.

Heres some questions you dont need to answer. Did you do a scratch test on backside of tile? Was there other rocks found in the area that magnets stuck too. Were there any mines in the area?

Does look like a great find. Im told they sell Meteorites by the gram. You could cut off a hunk for yourself and sell the rest.

I hear people say you will ruin it if your do a window test. But to test it, some part would have to be removed.

I look forward to your post of what it is?
