This might be a silly little idea but why not forestall these kinds of negative images by adding a disclaimer to your next auction? Make it clear what is being sold.

I had an uncle who researched Lizzy Borden, the Fall River Massachusetts woman who allegedly murdered her parents back in the late 1800s. His lifelong research was packed in boxes that weighed more than 500 pounds. His two sons are thinking of having his work published. They've found a ghost writer now and legal agreements took a far greater investment of time than finding the writer.

Something like this:
Disclaimer: You are buying photocopies of my entire lifetime of research for your personal use or for future use in joining in a venture partnership to continue searching for this treasure with other like-minded people. You may pursue this on your own or join a team of people who are able to pool resources and advance the research as a partnership.

Agreed completely... In an information based subject as this you know it's difficulties. I did realize after adding the second auction that this was a good idea that you just mentioned and I answered a question and posted it on the auction touching on this very subject... Smiley Great ideas though GoldDigger1950...

Feel free to use my words as you wish. From the start, I have supported your attempt to sell the items, as you know, but I can also see where some level of unique ownership might have been assumed by the first buyer.

I am happy to see you are accepting and using GoldDigger's wise suggestion in future ads.  That should clear up any confusion about what is up for auction and what the buyer will receive.

O yes, you are completely right GoldDigger1950... The first auction had the option for complete ownership by the first buyer... After our further discussions we came to a mutual understanding and positive feedback was left. The first buyer is part of the Fisher group who discovered the Atocha. Also, yes you have been a great example of rationality and understanding, and I appreciate the association in our common interests...
Thank you for your thoughts GoldDigger1950... Although not word for word, I have incorporated some of your suggestions into this most recent auction... Smiley

Yeah...a recovery would be required. An accumulation of various conspiracy theories alone will not change history.
