These are some of the most unusual quartz crystals you may ever see in your lifetime.
I have taken a pic with two other crystals, to the left, one a Herkemer "diamond" and a Pecos "diamond" these are all Quartz.
One of the things that make thes particular crystals unusual are the "Phantom" inside them. They have an exact reverse duplicate hollow inside. Also they have a delicate color to them as well. One a Champagne color, one a slight blue and one very light yellow.
They were found in SE Oklahoma in the 80"s by a man who sold them to a me and a dealer at the Fossilmania show. He would not reveal the location as to where they were found to anyone. He felt that he could mine the site in secret because he was getting a good price for them. I paid 12.00$ each for them. He did not have many with him but he said had more stashed at the site where they were found.
I wanted some of the green and pink ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, vivid green and Pink!
No map, no information to anyone, no family, no life. He died two days later without revealing the location.
I have searched the approximate area where I thought they may have come from but only found the cluster quartz stuff which is pretty common in that part of Oklahoma.
To this day there are at least three of my friends and me who got in on the purchase who are still looking.
I won't give up, not yet. These are highly collectable, I have been offered several times over my purchase price but they are not for sale.
Just thought I would share this story and if anyone has heard of this site, I would like for you to get in touch with me. I have others who would like some information as well.
Till next time.

Anyone try tracing down the location of his home, there may be information there among his possesions as to where he was traveling.. He should have been listed in an obituary and someone buried him. The funeral home would have information that might lead you down the right path.

Just some thoughts on the subject.........John in Va...

Sue hit it on some info she sent me.
As far as his background not much as far as his tracing where he had been other than SE Ok.
I have been hitting the Broken Bow Area pretty hard durring Deer season, after I put down my rifle for the morning. I pick up my rock hammer. I have found crystals but not these.
Sue gave me a good lead, that I was unaware of. I will followup on this.

Good luck on the search. Maybe you can find his stash too!

Cheers

Wow!  Those are outstanding quality crystals! Have you tried locating and speaking with any of his family members. If he has any in the area or even family you can track down out of state might provide some good information for your search.  I researched an old fall and located family members of an old timer who had found a huge meteorite. He passed away many many years ago. The family members were able to provide a ton of information. You never know.

Funny thing is they could be right there and you probably would not see them I was at the beach one day (I had been there many times) and found a sinker then another one and another in fact they are all over the place but I just did not see them and yet I was walking on top of them now that I know that they are there and what to look for I find them all the time.

All the best
Xavier

I'm glad I took the time to look at this older post. I found a similar one in SW Arkansas. Crystals are very common in SW AR and SE OK. Most of the field finds are milky and obviously were once attached to a larger piece. The one I found is very clear and has a red streak in the middle. When I first spotted it I thought it was a melted piece of glass. Thanks for sharing your gems with us.
