These are some of the most unusual quartz crystals you may ever see in your lifetime.
I have taken a pic with two other crystals, to the left, one a Herkemer "diamond" and a Pecos "diamond" these are all Quartz.
One of the things that make thes particular crystals unusual are the "Phantom" inside them. They have an exact reverse duplicate hollow inside. Also they have a delicate color to them as well. One a Champagne color, one a slight blue and one very light yellow.
They were found in SE Oklahoma in the 80"s by a man who sold them to a me and a dealer at the Fossilmania show. He would not reveal the location as to where they were found to anyone. He felt that he could mine the site in secret because he was getting a good price for them. I paid 12.00$ each for them. He did not have many with him but he said had more stashed at the site where they were found.
I wanted some of the green and pink ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, vivid green and Pink!
No map, no information to anyone, no family, no life. He died two days later without revealing the location.
I have searched the approximate area where I thought they may have come from but only found the cluster quartz stuff which is pretty common in that part of Oklahoma.
To this day there are at least three of my friends and me who got in on the purchase who are still looking.
I won't give up, not yet. These are highly collectable, I have been offered several times over my purchase price but they are not for sale.
Just thought I would share this story and if anyone has heard of this site, I would like for you to get in touch with me. I have others who would like some information as well.
Till next time.

Those are some really nice crystals, very clear and brilliant. Interesting story behind them as well, I'd be looking too! Thanks for sharing those.

Good luck on the hunt.

Neat crystals - really neat! Hope you find the source for them sometime. Think any of the locals might know something about him, where he roamed, etc?

Sue,
If "We" knew the wherebouts of "locals" we maybe could pinpoint locality.
He was very secretive. Another "Lost" treasure story as far as I am concerned.

You only know the region in OK, not the town where he was from.

Those are Most Cool crystals.

Herkimer they look.

Being Deep Based Quarts, they are Hard and Clear.

Rummaging through some old mine tailing's here in DEMING  New Mexico, I have found Herkimer Type crystals in some tailing's.

Like Diamonds, they have been pushed up through faults from way down.  Diamonds Travel a Pipe that has been forced up.

These come from a Intrusive Uplift of Faults with Volcanic History.

Herkimer are Clear as can Be.   Your Color variations have to be a Localized thing from other Minerals and Metal Salts.

Hint:   I find Mine one the West side of the Florida Mtns.   The Mine can be seen from HY-11.

Sue,
He was from Sherman Texas.
He was exploring for fossils in an area in SE Oaklahoma when he came about this discovery.
As far as knowing the area I know very little as to where not even what county.
All I am sure of is that he had been finding some fragmented crinoid material in slabs  up a dry creek bed.
He said he found his first crystal in the open, freestone and began by digging at a strata of grey/white/yellow banded "clay like material" when the colored crystals began popping out.
I think my eyes would pop out, if I found that strata. This is the only indicator he revealed to us. Crinoid bearing area and banded grey/white/yellow clay like material. That was it, no more hints as to any location. There are lot's of crinoid bearing areas in that part of Oklahoma.
BTW: Out of the four people who got to purchase these crystals only two of us are still alive. Willie and Frank both passed away in the 90's.

Homefire,
Do the ones you find in New Mexico possess a hollow Phantom inside? The hollow are is an exact replicate of the external character of the crystal.
You would have to handle and examine them personally to get the real beauty of these buggers.
My wife wants the Chamagne one set in gold for a necklace piece. ---- pending-------

Take a good look at the last picture you can see the phantoms inside them.
You can see it in all all the pics but the clearest pic is the last one. The Herkemer has none.
