Well I am a mentor on an arrowhead site and it just so happens that I also am a fossil nut.
I mentioned that I was going to a favorite hunt spot and someone wanted to tag along.
Well it was OK as long as the location was not revealed.
Yes we did find several nice ammonites including some that when cleaned up are considered "Jewel Quality"
They are composed of Iron stone and yellow Calcite crystal.
Sure had a good time and a return to the area is absolute.
I only had a few hours and it takes a few trips to cover the area good.
The ammonites are called Metoicoceras Whitti.
I did manage to find one of the best scaphite I've ever found but it will take some cleaning to actually see more than
a smooth and rounded on two ends stone.
I'll post again soon if I find something worth posting.....

Jess B.

I think that Out4gold should give us a lecture on how to find them, what signs to look for, in what kind of location and so on

First, know the area
Second, read all you can to know what you may find
Third, Be able to see your feet
Fourth, have the time and ability to crawl a lot
Fifth, and this is important when teaching someone, they at least know "IT'S A SPECIMEN NOT A ROCK WHEN THEY KEEP IT".

looks like were on the same line of thought BA  Wink But to quite honest...let me rather put it this way, when I was living at the coast I decided to go and look for sinkers at low tide, I knew that there had to be lots of sinkers stuck in the rocks but I could not see them then I remembered what a wise man told me, he said look at what you do not see I then immediately changed the way that i was looking at these rock and within an hour I had found about 2Kg of sinkers. I think that this is what Out4gold is trying to tell us.
