Yes, technos, you was right, it was man made slag, but have a lot of free iron inside, and even this iron may be hammered. There are such samples in my last field finding.

I see some vesicles in the meteorite photos which leads me to believe it's not a meteorite. Here's a website that has a great deal of information on meteorites and meteorwrongs

Hi, Goldfinger. Many thanks for this great site. The example #93 is very close to my finds.
My example is more like a slag.

Sasha,
Those 5 fossils you have, the one on the exteme right is a Bracheopod, which is a clam. The others are all fossil crinoids, which are fossil corals, they are all individual criniods, except the one on the top left, it has one large individual crinoid, then attached to it are some small colonies of crinoids. Each one of those holes are the opening to the crinoid.

I studied geology at Univ of Nebr, and was a National Park Ranger with the National Park Service, U.S. Dept of Interior. I was also stationed once at the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, specifically the Painted Desert, where my room mate was Edward Abbey, the famous environmental author.

I found the only piece of petrified bark, that is related to that Petrified Forest deposit, and it was 60 million years old.

Melbeta,
The brachiopods has two shells, and I found these too.

The fossil  at top right is not a corall, I gues it also is the mollusc, named Melania

Sasha, What age did the gastropods come from? Where are the crinoid and brachiopod photos?

Hi, gambol1.
I went field today and made a few photos of gathered there fossils. I found a lot of gastropods, crinoids and brachiopods too. A few today I brought home. Here are my photos from field and at home. All fossils I found in the same place and in the same bed. They have the same age, I think 500 to 400  million years ago.

Sasha, if you ever do determine what exactly you have let us all know.  Also the value. I have a friend who found one like it here in Indiana, U.S.A.  A college said it is a meteorite and they are studying it.  -Thanks Jim Rook
