It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Out4Gold, that is one very nice specimen.    I've just added Bridgeport to my list of places to visit on one of my trips back to Texas.   (Found another reason to visit there earlier today when I was reading up on the Butterfield Overland Stage Route.)

Excellent find there! My friend and I have hunted there
(Bridgeport) area many times. Have found a few but
don't think any that large.

Go Up Go Down

Found: Bridgeport Texas
Age: Pennsylvanian
I have found several over the years including one that appeared on the front of the first publication of:
Texas Monthly magazine's; "Amature Fossil Collectors Guide"
I will post a picture of the book soon.
The cover has changed and that particular publication is no longer available.
It indeed was a proud moment when I walked into the "Fossilmania fossil" show and my friends started to wave and congratulate me.
I had four of these stolen from me "right out from under my nose" one specimen was actually two trilobites with both in incredible condition.
These are valued at nearly 700.00 each in museum quality condition. I use this one in particular as my avitar on other web sites.
There are three different types of trilobites found at the site. For security reasons I can not reveal exact locations as to where they are found.
Fossil "finding" is just one of the hobbies I have enjoyed over the years and yes I have found "Dionosaur" material as well.
Maybe I'm stretching things but "I was given a gift to see things that others can not.
I was asked "more than once" how I found things before by some of my piers and I reached down at their very feet and picked up specimens that they were unaware of.

Sounds like you have a hidden talent for finding old bones (very old bones) I found fossilized sea shells they were small about ? in but they got lost when I moved I?m pretty P.O about that I should still have some small shark teeth found them on the west coast S.A any how I never did find any thing worth a thing just nice to think about what went on in that area at the time.

Regards
Xavier

Out4Gold, "These are valued at nearly 700.00 each in museum quality condition" Wow, I had no idea they were worth so much. You have a good eye! Sue
