Cool name Johnny Tonko  Smiley He's doing his trekking. Finding diamonds, gold, tektites, etc in Colorado. Sue

If Johnny Tonko is right, then nearly 364 million years ago just as the first fish started evolving legs a meteorite crashed into the earth with the force of many hydrogen bombs forming a crater 5 miles across; Gunnison's own Hartman Rocks

This meteorite, according to Tonko, may have also been one in a series of meteorites that strafed across North America at the 38th parallel, pummeling it like a machine gun and possibly causing one of five planetary extinctions much earlier than the one associated with the end of the dinosaurs.

Using a globe, instead of a skewed flat map, and looking at arial photos and satellite imagery Tonko believed he saw the theorized "line" located in southern Illinois, Missouri and eastern Kansas continuing all the way to a circular crater in Colorado.

A piece of this "Gunnison tektite" was recently being held for auction by Tonko on Ebay for $980.50.

I am familiar with this guys theories. A lot people in the world of science call him a crackpot and say he doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't know enough about it myself to make an informed decision. Over time- a lot of the so called crack pots have proven to be true so only time will tell.

I am not too sure of my facts, but during the time frame spoken of for the meteorite hit, the land mass of the  world was in the form of Pangea and the land mass was tilted some what.  At that time did the future 38th parallel run through those places described in the article?  As an amateur fossil hunter I was lead to believe that many fossils were found in the vertical line that was  running thru Alberta, Ca, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, etc., was a parallel at the time.  Any ideas?
