Went out today looking for meteotites in SW Wisconsin... hopefull again tomorrow... However while we didn't find any meteorites.. I captured something rare from where I am from and are considered endangered...a pair of Sand Hill Cranes...a male and female... the male has the red top to his head.....One of the benefits of not sitting in front of the TV..but getting out and while you may not be successful in your prospecting, meteorite or treasure hunting... just enjoy what natire brings your way... Hope yu enjoy the picture as much as I did actually seeing then live....

We have blue cranes out here if one comes by close to the house I'll take a photo of it and post it to you.

I don't have a clue the thing is I'm not even sure that this one is a blue Crane we have a lot of wild life where I live just never took the time to study it but I really should. This little guy was really photogenic

The neat thing about the Sand Hill Cranes that Klondike posted is that Sand Hill Cranes were used as adoptive parents when the decision was made to re-introduce Whooping Cranes into the wild.

BA I will look at the link tomorrow but let me just ask you this why did they not just introduce a few pair's to mate in the wild?

Whooping Cranes and Sandhill Cranes are migratory birds that share winter and summer areas.   There was one small colony in the east, and they were hopint to establish another colony....problem was adult birds wouldn't know the proper migratory routes for the new colony.
