Brand new member and figured I'd post something more then my hello statement.

Just a shot of a few things I picked up in North Carolina.
{alt}

The gold was from our last trip to North Carolina and the two rusty colored rocks are garnets I spotted while working the wheel barrel at a trommel in a group gold dig. The Black tourmaline was found along the campsite road while I was going to the restrooms.  It had been kind of sunk in to the dirt road so it had been there awhile.

I'm kind of an opportunist. I started out just looking for gems and fossils. After seeing a lot of mineral sites had gold or history around them I decided to widen my opportunities. One of the gem mines had a gold panning camp fairly close by. And that was near the Betchler mine.
