I went ahead and got the terraphone app for my Iphone. Seems kind of neat one of the things it does is as you are traveling it will show strata (layers of rocks near by), Occurrences (rock and mineral around), fossils (reports of fossils near), meteor finds in the area. Just don't know how complete yet since I have not had a field trip. You can also pick an area and look whats around. It may be a little bit before I get a chance to try it out. Anybody here have it?

That's because you're like me and live in the stone age.   Many more useful apps like this and I may just have to join the 21st century.

Take a picture and it automatically takes gps info. Figured it could be a neat app to record finds.

The Android phones with GPS are very nice. I have an app that tracks my roving on Google maps and saves it. I can send it by e-mail anywhere for later analysis. Using TapaTalk, I can post it here, if I wish. The iPhone is good but only about 20% of apps are free. The inverse is normal for Android with 80% being free.

One of my favorite apps is called Bump. If I am out hunting with a buddy and take a photo, we can both set our phones up to use Bump for sharing. Whether you use an iPhone or an Android phone is irrelevant because the app exists on both. To share a photo, we first bump phones with the image called up and it goes to the other phone. Later, if we have "saved" that user, we can simply wave the phone and send it even if we are half way around the world.

Technology today is blowing my socks off daily.

It is fun isn't it. The imarkit isn't bad on the price though. 99 cents. Bump is one I'll be putting on mine also. The iphone was a surprise for me, my wife decided we needed new phones. And one day they show up.

Ah yes technology ain't it great, with apps for just about everything.  One of these days they'll have a dinner app, you just tap your phone against your tum-tum and it will tell you you are stuffed to the gills after that roast beef & mashed potatoes dinner you just had with a salad, spanish corn for a veggie but no dessert, too fattening.

Oh and if you want kids just tap it twice on your crotch and shazam there's two kids, boy & a girl,
upstairs waiting for a kiss nitey-nite. Grin Grin Grin Grin
