Picked up a free Search Master DX 8500. Really a piece of junk, but was free, and after new batteries it works. Picked up a cheap new metal detector the other day for one of the grandkids (8 year old) and this one can be used by the younger grandkids.

Its a good enough machine to get them started into a great hobby & gives them some quality time with gramps. Enjoy them while there young, they grow up fast.

Well, gave them to the grandkids today. Just having trouble with the younger one wanting to stay with in a few feet of the older one. Getting a lot of false signals off each other. Think they finally got it though. At least for today. Only had a little time on the detectors in great grandmas back yard. But they found a nail and a underground cut off valve for the sprinkler system  she did not know was there.
