Go Up Go Down

Looking to buy a unit for a family member as a gift.  The folks who welcomed me in my "Greetings from the Newb" posting suggested Garrett as a sound machine.  The 150 is about the limit of my budget, but I am wondering just what the difference is in performance between the 150 and the 250?  Is it worth it to go for the extra $70-80 bucks?  Since this is a "first machine" for the intended giftee, I am sure either machine would be well appreciated.

I have a Number of Garrett machines and Sware by them.

Sorry to say but bounty Hunter has The UnAsked Vote on this one.

I owned an Ace 250 and it seemed more like a tool than a toy. The 150 is a little more on the toy side. If budget is a concern, consider getting a used 250. There are many out there being sold by people who are upgrading. Nice machine. I upgraded to an AT-Pro and sold my like new 250 for about $130.
