Can you use it in water? yes...do NOT get the control wet it is not submersible! Some people report having trouble with false signals in salt water some lower the sensitivity and can still use it...I've used it in fresh water with no problem.

i knot a rag on the shaft to catch any water that rolls up the shaft in case i do raise the coil up Wink

DiggerDude, there are lots of tips on getting the most out of your 250 both in and out of the water.   Just use the search function at the top right of the page or scan through old posts on the various boards.
