Hi Chris,
What really Pi***s me off is you can get it in the U.S. for UNDER $600!
Thats ?380 U.K. (!)
Why the hell should we have to pay a ?270 premium?Huh???
 No no! No no!
Might be worth checking out importing one (even with post and import duty you ought to be able to make a decent saving)

We pay high import tariffs here in Australia, too. A Garrett Ace 250 sells for $212.00 at KellyCo and $400.00 here even with the dollar almost at parity with the Greenback.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Chris3766, I wrote in to Garrett asking for more info on the performance of the machine in salt water. The reply is as follows:

"The AT Pro will be even better than an most other VLF?s due to the AT?s DD coil and ability to ground balance to saltwater. The AT Pro does not have salt elimination like other Garrett models do."

I do hope you can do a review of this unit in shallow seas and post your findings here. If it performs acceptably well, I may want one for myself. Thanks!

Hi Chris,
If your lucky, it'll come by post (and you'll..... ahem..... not need to pay anything).
Or the post office will drop a card through your door asking you to pick it up from the local depot and pay the duty on pickup.
Depends what they put on the customs "c2" sticker when they send it out.
If you can find a friendly dealer in the U.S. who's happy to put "gift" on there (it is getting near christmas) they'll likely just ignore it and it'll come straight to you.
