Welcome from New Mexico!  I moved your post from Garret here so folks could extend a welcome.

You Sir have one fine machine there.   GD has one I believe and I've had one.   Those old timers in the right hands can keep up or do better then allot of the New Bells and Whistles ridden machines.

I'll see if I can find the Reverse Discrimination procedure for ya.

Basically you just set up the Descimination to work backwards in the TR mode.   Cool Stuff..

The Ground Hog is a pretty good machine. I bought one just for the antique factor but when I got it working I found out it is a pretty sensitive machine in TR mode. It is a little heavy but I sometimes use it for really trashy areas due to the small coil.

Try this out!

REVERSE DISCRIMINATION. Put your switch in the VLF mode. Since this is a no-motion machine, begin slow sweeps as you will miss targets if you sweep too fast. Upon detecting a metal object you must pinpoint as closely as possible which is fairly easy seeming as it is a no-motion detector. Once you have the object pinpointed and your metal detector is not moving, flip your mode switch to the TR discrimanant mode. Have your discrimination set to reject nails or other rusted objects. If your machine blares off or sounds off when you move off the target, that implies you target has been rejected. On the otherhand if your machine goes silent that implies that your target has been accepted.

 Shocked
