Was it the condensation that caused the problem, or did the unit get wet from direct exposure?

Sounds like the unit is very sensitive to moisture. Wow, great solution to the problem: plastic bag!

I've used 'em on my GTAx's in a steady rain with no problems (other than a bit of awkwardness adjusting the settings---but even that wasn't insurmountable).

I just use plastic chicken roaster bags. They are large, sturdy and have a zip lock and cover all of the electrical components. Also, they are disposable and don't cost much.....

I've never roasted a plastic chicken. What do they taste like? Ken and Barbie?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Which detector are you using.....with the GTA series, I just take the battery box off and clip it to my belt under my poncho or raincoat.   ( I know the Whites has two piece environmental covers, but it has more electronics in the same section than does the Garrett GTA series)
