As far as I know there is no manual for the Blood hound.    It's just another coil.

Homefire, i must say that looks very similar to a machine i think you were advising on Treasure Quest in sept 2009 (an old 1970's Garrett Master Hunter VLF Deepseeker with Bloodhound coil - original setup)

Rtrooper68 .. does it have a battery tray that slides in from the back? holds 6 batteries? 2 for power and 2 or 4 for detection? Smiley

yes ,it uses 6 batteries that slide into the rear.I'm trying to find a manual for this detector.it seems to work but I'm not sure how to tune it. i traded a arrowhead to a old time prospector/guide that lives in Montana who is a collector. he said my arrowhead was actually a spear head.the story goes that in the early 80's he was payed to guide a young man into the Cascades for 2 weeks looking for a treasure.i also got a digital thermo reading device.I'm not sure what that was used for. he was not told what the treasure was but they only stayed out for 4 days.the young man gave all his equipment to the guide after they returned.the old timer dint know what if anything was recovered as he stayed at the base camp as requested by the customer.

Boy, O Boy I can't find the Manual for this one any place. Garrett does not have it.   Second Party locations don't have it.

I'm checking a few Vintage sites that may produce something.

Good News is the just of it is printed on the front panel.

Being a VLF only detector it's rather simple in operation.

First Note:    This detector set up is for Relic and Cache hunting.

You have No Discrimination. Your going to be hunting in All Metal Mode.

You will not be finding single coins with it.   It may sound off on a Single Silver Dollar or the like but is set up to look for items Cannon Ball size or more to the most parts.

1.   Turn unit on.

2.    With the Blood Hound Coil, hold the detector to your side in a relaxed level.   Remember your going to be carrying it for quite some time.    Use a Shoulder Strap if you need.

3.   Pressing the handle Button,  Set the Audio Threshold to comfortable level for you.    The lower the better. The ear detects volume differences most well.

4.    Now Holding down the Button on the handle, set the Ground Balance so the audio level is at the middle level.

5.    Release the button.

6.    Raise and lower the detector and note if the Audio raises or lowers.

7.    Repeat steps 4-6 until you hear no or little difference in tone or volume. Be sure there is NO Target in the location you perform the Tune.

8.    Once Stable you are now ready to hunt.

Note 2:  I don't know for fact the freq of this detector.

I think it was one of the first to use 5.5Khz.  I'm still looking into that.

Most of Garretts detectors were running 15Khz at the time.

If it runs 15Hkz all metal mode could be a decent Gold Prospecting machine.

If so, you can still find the coils and it could be used more like a regular detector.

Remember you only have all metal mode.  NOT A COIN hunters dream.

Hang in there, I'm still working on it.

in step 3 you say  Pressing the handle Button,  Set the Audio Threshold to comfortable level for you.and in step 4. Now Holding down the Button on the handle, set the Ground Balance so the audio level is at the middle level.my question is,are you referring to the small button on the handle to do both procedures ? thank you very much for the help.my only other detector is a minelab 705 and Ive had excellent luck with it.

Yes.     There is button works a Sample and hold circuit.

I may not have much to do with the Audio, I just think you should use it to set it.

But I know it holds the GB.
