Go Up Go Down

Heres the problem I got.I have a GTA 1000 and have been playing around doing some air test with it.
MD set in all metal,0 disc.,depth set at max, threshold at max.
This machine does not whisper or give faint signals that you all talk about all the time, you know [listen to what your
machine is telling you and listen for those little whispers.]This machine gives full tone or no tone.
At 10" I pick up a qaurter full tone but with no visual ID,no vis.is ok but as stated the tone is full.
At 8" I pick up a qaurter full tone with visual ID.I understand the signal has to be strong enough to give a visual signal
but does the same thing apply to give a sound signal.
Am I missing those deep coins simply because my MD does not whisper to me?
I been researching, researching and researching on my next MD purchase and it is driving me crazy!!!!!
Considering the Garrett AT PRO-Reveiws seem to be good but once again am I going to miss those deep coins do to
the MD either giving full tone or no tone.
Another I have been considering is the whites MXT PRO,this machine will whisper on those deeper targets therefore
will I be able to detect coins that the AT PRO would simply pass over unheard.
What do you think would be the best coin hunting MD for hunting the old home sites and farm feilds of Indiana,no sandy beachs here so water and sand hunting do not need to be considered.
Please help for spring time will be here soon and I need to get ready Detecting Detecting

You say your Tone is ON or OFF?

Threshold at max?

Try Turning it down until you can just hear it.

Just a Thought.

Yep, Garrett with walk you through it.

I have set this trial up in the garrage away from all noise, did test with and without headphones, turned threshold up to just a low hum is heard.Qaurter at 12" no sound change,at 11"no sound change,at 10"---bam, audio tone.At 8"
audio and visual display showing qaurter.I don't think anything is wrong with the MD it just responds when target is detected with audio tone, there are no WHISPER and or faint tones-it beeps or doesn't beep. There is no sound change in threshold hum at all. When a coin is detected at 10" it beeps the same tone as one detected at 1".
Thats part of my question,is the MD picking up the faint signal but will not alert you untill the signal is at a certain strength level, therefore would cause me to miss those deep faint signals of a coin.

HI  V Burgh Homefire's right the threshold has to be just so you can hear it, coz the deep week signal won't be able to break through when the threshold is set to high and thats the secrete to gettin those deep critters, because that break in threshold is i repeat IS THE signal that tells you somethin is there, now dig it all and get rich good luck.

I bought a Ultra 1000 about two months as a backup detector and I'm having no problems at all with it It really does  the faint singals at deep targets but I had to learn to slow down my swing. I think the slow swing is the difference in hearing faint sounds. I like this machine so much It's now the first machine I grab when I go out. Call Garrett they are really great people to deal with. Good luck and keep digging dirt
